Why CortiCheck?

Every year, thousands of people with adrenal insufficiency are hospitalized due to adrenal crisis, a life-threatening condition where cortisol levels crash, potentially leading to shock, organ failure and death.

And yet—there’s still no FDA-cleared at-home cortisol test. CortiCheck would change that.

Patient-led Innovation

  • Portable, real-time cortisol monitoring
  • Fingerstick blood test with smartphone app integration
  • Designed for: Adrenal Insufficiency, Addison’s, Chronic Steroid Users, and more

FAQs

CortiCheck is a proposed handheld blood test for free cortisol, designed to improve adrenal crisis detection. It is currently in early-stage R&D and not yet FDA-cleared or available for clinical use.

While both aim to advance adrenal health, they operate independently. CortiCheck is a product in development, while the Consortium is a research and advocacy initiative with separate funding streams and governance.

No. CortiCheck is not yet validated, FDA-cleared, or available for clinical or personal use. It requires further funding and regulatory approval.

The Global Adrenal Testing Consortium was created to enable collaboration across all cortisol testing technologies and stakeholders. Unlike an advisory board tied to a single product or company, the Consortium allows us to share research openly, set industry-wide standards, and prioritize patient needs over commercial interests. This approach ensures that advancements benefit everyone, not just one solution.

You can support the Consortium’s research and advocacy through donations (pending 501(c)(3) approval) or partnerships. For CortiCheck, follow updates on R&D progress.

Testimonials

As someone with adrenal insufficiency, every crisis feels like a race against time. Real-time cortisol testing would give me and my doctors the data we desperately need to act fast and save my life.

-Sarah M.

I’ve been misdiagnosed in the ER too many times. If real-time cortisol testing existed, I wouldn’t have to fear being dismissed when I’m actually in crisis.

-Mike S.

Living with unpredictable cortisol levels is terrifying. Real-time monitoring would finally give me control over my health and peace of mind.
